About Sarian

This summary is out of date.

Sarian (sxarihe [sxaˈɾiː]) is an a priori conlang.

It is written with 23 letters of the Latin alphabet with the addition of <á é í ó ú ś ý>. Spelling is phonemic and largely faithful to pronunciation, with a few regular exceptions. Stress is not necessarily fixed, but usually stays on the root of the word regardless of affixes. Stress is usually unmarked, but may be marked with a simple acute accent in longer words to facilitate reading.

Sarian is agglutinative language with ergative alignment and commonly features grammatical affixes for negativity, person, tense, mode and case. Sarian has no definiteness, animacy or gender. Sarian has seventeen cases (or postpositional suffixes). It also commonly features the compounding of multiple nouns which can produce long words.

Its primary order is SOV, although word order may be fluid, with the one rule that the inflected verb must always be placed at the end of a clause. Relating to this, subordinate clauses appear before the main clause.
