Aʻoonirobi uses a base-16 number system. This arose from the fact that the A'oonirob, like most frogs, have four digits on each of their hands. However, instead of counting just the fingers themselves, the A'oonirob count both the top of each finger, the bottom of each finger, and the spaces in between each finger using their 'thumb'. This allows a count of up to eight on each hand.
