The retenian territory is inhabited since the paleolitic and received numerous migration waves that forged the genetic panorama of modern Retenian population.

Haplogroup U5b and U6

Theses haplogroups have a several presence in mountainous regions of western Retenia.


Y:

R1b Haplogroup

R1b is found mainly in Eastern parts of Retenia but also in the South and the Center. This haplogroup arrived in Retenia with the Indo-European invasions between 2000 BC and 1800 BC that brought the Retenian language. A second wave of R1b arrival happened between 600 BC and 300 BC with Celtic migration and concerned mainly the North-East of Retenia but also reinforced R1b presence in the center.


E1b1b haplogroup

This haplogroup is present among the populations of Southern Retenia and in the mid-western hills and plateaux and is diffused in central and Eastern Retenia. It was brought into Retenia by a migration from North Africa that happened between 5000 BC and 4000 BC.


I haplogroup

This haplogroup is mainly present in mountainous north-western regions but is also present in some eastern and northern parts. This haplogroup existed in Retenia before E1b1b and R1b.
